Up Flow Regeneration

Up flow regeneration drives the hardness minerals up through the already depleted resin and out the drain-saving both salt and the unused portion of the resin for future use.

Built to last vs Built to fail

Let's take a moment to talk components.

Ceramics are 100% stronger than rubber O-Rings

The main job of the water softener control valve is to facilitate regeneration when the ion exchange resin is exhausted. So, every water softener has internal moving parts to make this work. 90% of water softeners in Jacksonville use a piston driven valve comprised of O-rings. This is where we differ. We use a fixed disc and a moving ceramic disc.

It's All About Friction

To  facilitate regeneration the valve has to cycle to backwash, brine draw, brine fill, fast rinse then back to service. A piston driven valve with rubber O-rings uses compression against the rubber seals, this generates a lot of friction. Inevitably, the rubber seals will wear out and not be able to make a seal after about 3 to 5 years of use. Leaking water, and no soft water are symptoms of rubber seal failure. A typical piston driven valve repair will cost $200 to $400 dollars every 3 to 5 years depending on the make and model of the water softener. Ceramics on the other hand, create very little friction and can last up to 10,000 regenerations (or 2 to 3 lifetimes).

Critical Question: Does your water softener use a piston driven valve or a ceramic moving disc?

Hard Water is a Problem

Hard water causes white spots and buildup of film. When combined with soap, the minerals form soap curd or scum that makes skin dry and itchy, hair lifeless, laundry dull and builds up on fixtures. Hard water decreases the life expectancy of your faucets and fixtures and appliances by up to 40%. Hydro Standard is the most economical option to treat hard Jacksonville water.

Did You Know?

As soon as you install a new water softener system in Jacksonville FL,  it will begin to reverse the buildup of scale. It will begin to soften hard water deposits, and with time will begin to flush out hard water buildup.
